Speaking about the event, Chairman of Lisburn City Council’s Economic Development Committee, Alderman Allan Ewart, said: “This year’s event is particularly significant, in celebration of the 20th anniversary of a friendship declaration between Wanganui, New Zealand and the City of Lisburn.”

Apple Day is part of a UK wide scheme to celebrate traditional varieties of apple and has been held at Ballance House for a number of years.

Chairman of Ulster New Zealand Trust, David Twigg explains: “This year, you will still see your favorite elements of Apple Day: a craft market selling a range of handmade goods, local apples and apple juice for sale and traditional apple pie and afternoon tea served in our tea barn, all in the beautiful countryside surroundings.
