Application by cricket club deferred for office meeting

Three letters of objection were lodged with the Planning Service opposing the application. The Planners indicated they were minded to reject the application as it would result in “visual clutter”. However, the committee sought a deferral of the decision to allow an office meeting to be held to discuss the matter.

“I was disappointed when the Planning Service recommended this application be refused,” said Councillor Alexander Redpath. “I am keen to encourage local sports teams who are finding it increasingly difficult to raise funds.

“We will carefully examine the planning service’s assertion that the application falls foul of planning policy. If all else fails I will do my best to advise the club how best to amend their application with a view to increasing advertising space. Derriaghy have had a very successful season thus far and I would like to congratulate them on reaching the final of the intermediate cup.”
