Appointments only as CAB overwhelmed by demand

THE demand for the services of the Citizens Advice Bureau in Lisburn has become so great that from next month anyone wanting to see an advisor will have to make an appointment.

From Monday February 7 Lisburn Citizens Advice Bureau will become appointment based only.

Bureau Manager John Maxwell explained the reason behind the change. "Our drop in sessions have become overwhelmed and we feel that this will be much better for our clients," he said.

"Clients will not have to wait to see an advisor but will be assessed on arrival and offered and appointment.

"Some clients have had to wait a considerable time to see an advisor and the issues they have were dealt with within ten to fifteen minutes," continued Mr Maxwell.

"Our appointment system will ensure that lengthy waits will no longer happen. We deal with 20,000 issues each year and this will help us to do that more effectively."

To make an appointment the client can contact Lisburn CAB on 92662251 between 9.30am - 12.30pm and 1.30pm-4pm, or by calling into the Bureau during those hours. An appointment can also be made by emailing [email protected]. The telephone advice service will still operate between 9.30am-12.30pm and 1.30pm-4pm.

Clients requiring advice/assistance in relation to consumer debts/mortgage arrears can contact the money advice helpline Monday to Friday 9am-5pm on 9262 7977.
