Appraisal of IrishStreet and LincolnCourt centres due

An economic appraisal on proposed new community facilities in the Lincoln Court and Irish Street areas in the Waterside is still at the consultation stage with completion expected by December.

Earlier this year the Sentinel reported how a merger of the Lincoln Court and Irish Street centres was one option being proposed under a strategic review of the Council’s community centres across the city.

According to an update report, which has been newly laid before the Derry City Council Development Committee, consultants are now due to meet with interested parties and stakeholders in both Lincoln Court and Irish Street this month before a final report is presented early in the New Year.

“The Lincoln Courts and Irish Street economic appraisal is at consultation stage,” the report states. “The consultants will be meeting with a number of stakeholders throughout November and will also hold a public consultation in each area. This economic appraisal is on schedule for completion in December 2014.”

The strategic review also recommended economic appraisals for Galliagh, Ballymagroarty and Hazelbank and Culmore.
