Approval granted for Seymour Hill housing

A £10m redevelopment of part of the old Dunmurry High School site at Seymour Hill has been approved.

Councillor Margaret Tolerton, Chair of the steering group behind the development by Connswater Homes, said she was delighted with the news.

“There’s over 300 people on the waiting list for social housing in Seymour Hill and these additional 98 new homes will go some way to easing the housing pressures in the area,” she said.

Dunmurry High school closed two years ago after it had suffered from declining enrolments when just 110 pupils were attending the school.

Lisburn North Ulster Unionist Councillor Alexander Redpath commented:

“I am glad this development has reached the next stage with planning permission being successfully granted. This is a much needed development which will provide nearly one hundred social homes in an area of high need. I am glad that this site, which has become a safety risk and an eye sore, will be redeveloped for the benefit of the community.”
