£200,000 boost for Maghera Youth Centre

Fairhill Youth Centre in Maghera is to receive £200,000 from the Education Department.

SDLP Councillor Martin Kearney has welcomed the allocation, saying it was a much needed injection of funds under the Department’s Youth Investment Captial Scheme.

“This will enable essential repairs to the roof, replacement of boiler, modernisation to the kitchen and toilets, update of fire alarm and secure doors,” said Cllr Kearney.

“I congratulate the committee in their endeavours to secure this funding. For many years in a voluntary capacity they have continued to provide non-formal learning opportunities through valuable youth work.

“This upgrading of vital facilities will not only benefit the young people of Maghera but local schools and the wider community as well.”
