£900k investment in city firm

A £900,000 investment, leading to 15 new jobs over the next two years in Londonderry has been announced by the Enterprise, Trade and Investment Minister, Jonathan Bell.

The investment is in Oak Grove Cabins and is part of plans to boost GB sales.

Based in Maydown Industrial Estate the company designs, manufactures and erects high quality park homes and log cabins. Invest Northern Ireland has offered the company £94,740 towards its investment.

“Oak Grove Cabins is an enterprising family business focused on maximising its sales outside Northern Ireland,” the Minister said. “The investment in new equipment, marketing and additional staff will help Oak Grove Cabins target customers and develop new business opportunities.

“The creation of 15 new jobs, supported by Invest NI, enables the business to deliver to an increasing order book and contributes around £300,000 annually in additional salaries.”

He continued: “Oak Grove Cabins is a unique manufacturing business and its commitment to growth is positive news for the sector and for the local area.”

Oak Grove Cabins Managing Director Noel Flanagan said: “We see significant growth potential in the GB leisure lodge market over the next few years and want to position ourselves to compete successfully for this new business. “Working with Invest NI has enabled us to proceed quickly with implementing our marketing strategy and recruiting additional staff needed to meet the expected increase in sales. Over the coming months we will be focused on attending exhibitions and trade shows and aiming to turn the leads we generate into actual sales.”

Alderman Maurice Devenney welcomed the announcement.

“It is good to see 15 jobs coming to the city and particularly good to see investment of this kind coming to an established firm in the rural part of Londonderry,” he said.
