Archibald welcomes Rural Development Strategy

Sinn Féin Assembly candidate Caoimhe Archibald has welcomed the launch of the Causeway Coast and Glens Local Rural Development Strategy.

Dr Archibald said, “The launch of the Rural Development Strategy by the LAG highlights the priority areas of funding for the Causeway Coast and Glens area, along with indicative timescales for the funding calls.

“This gives communities and groups clarity on developing their projects over the next couple of years.

“The LAG has prioritised the Rural Business Investment Scheme and Rural Basic Services Schemes which is positive in developing our local rural economy.

She continued, “In further good news for rural communities, this week saw the final passing of the Rural Needs Bill through the Assembly. As a result, public authorities and decision makers are now required to take the needs of rural communities into account when developing policies and services. With more than 670,000 people living in rural communities across the north, this legislation will go a long way to address the issues and challenges they face.”
