Are you brave enough?

Fancy getting your swimming costume on and jumping into the sea?

Then get yourself to Portrush next Sunday, December 16th and take part in the fourth annual Santa Splash, with all proceeds in aid of Northern Ireland Children’s Hospice.

Already a community focal point, the event allows you to catch up with friends and family and kick off the festive season with a bit of fun.

Supported by 55 North in Portrush, the splash takes place at the Arcadia Beach in Portrush.

Turn up with your swimming costume and a Santa hat at 1pm and take the plunge into the Atlantic Ocean. Then warm yourself up with hot drinks and soup as you catch up with friends. Last year 70 people took part and this year the Organiser Stephen McConnell hope for more.

Stephen said: “This year we have chosen the NI Children’s Hospice in memory of local girl, Amelia Currie who sadly passed away in October. The hospice supported Amelia and her parents throughout her life and hopefully by raising money in her memory other children and families will be able to receive the support and help that the hospice provide.

“So I would encourage anyone who is free to come down to the Arcadia Beach in Portrush at 1pm to either take part or support the event on the 16 December.’

Hospice Fundraiser, Matthew Allen said ‘I would like to thank Stephen for organising the Santa Splash and I would encourage everyone to take part in this unique and wonderful event.

“Each year the Children’s Hospice provides respite and end of life care to over 300 local children with life-limiting illnesses, with care provided both in Hospice and in the child’s own home through our community nursing teams. We couldn’t offer these services without the support of local people and rely heavily on the generosity of the public to help maintain our services of care and support.’
