Are you brave enough to try the Poetry Grand Slam?

POETRY enthusiasts will be hugely excited to know that Dungannon’s newest arts venue is getting ready to host its first ever Poetry Grand Slam.

Taking place at The Square Box in the town and presented by The Upbeat Club, the event has been scheduled for Friday, February 15, from 8pm until 10pm.

Billed as a “fast moving, knockout poetry contest”, the event, which features Stephen James Smith as guest MC, will be limited to 10 entries.

The Slam is open to anyone who can perform their work from memory in less than three minutes. The champion will walk away with the Grand Slam prize of £100.

Stephen James Smith is a renowned performance poet from Dublin.

He won the Cúirt Literary Festival Grand Slam, the inaugural Writing4all Slam Final in Dublin and featured in the BBC Radio 4 Irish slam final.
