The Lord Mayor welcomed everyone to the Palace, before handing over to Armagh Lions Secretary Malcolm Dawson who outlined how the funds were raised. Along with the annual events held by the Club, Malcolm paid tribute to the vast amount of donations which literally appeared without asking, including cheques from St John’s Bowling Club, Loughgall and proceeds from the Department of Agriculture’s staff barbecue in the summer.

Whilst Armagh Lions held the events and raised the funds, Malcolm was eager to point out the Club is simply the conduit and the funding itself came from the community, along with a £10,000 grant from the Big Lottery.
