Armed robbery at Islandmagee Road newsagents

Detectives in Newtownabbey are appealing for information after a report of armed robbery at business premises in the Islandmagee Road, Whitehead area yesterday afternoon (Tuesday).

At around 4pm, it was reported that three male youths entered a newsagents and threatened a female member of staff with a wrench. The males made off on foot with a sum of money and a quantity of cigarettes.

No one is believed to have been injured during the incident.

One of the youths is described as wearing a blue hooded top with white writing on the front and the second male is described as wearing a pink hooded top.

The third male is described as wearing a black hooded top with red stripes down both arms.

Enquiries are continuing and police would appeal to anyone who saw any suspicious activity in the Islandmagee Road, Whitehead area between 1pm and 4pm to contact them at Newtownabbey CID on the non-emergency number 101.
