Members of the Royal British Legion were joined by shoppers and community representatives in driving rain at the Big Lamp on the eleventh hour on the eleventh day of the eleventh month.

The act of remembrance on the centenary of the outbreak of World War One included a recital of The Ode for the fallen.

It followed Sunday’s remembrance parade and service in Carrickfergus during which veterans were joined by representatives of uniformed organisations.
