Army bases, pub and Church are now listed

JUST five twentieth century buildings have been listed in Londonderry and Limavady since 2000.

In all 107 buildings built during the last century were listed across Northern Ireland.

Three former military installations were deemed worthy of special status. A public house and a Roman Catholic Church were also listed.

Minister of the Environment, Edwin Poots, revealed that an aircraft hangar at Shackleton Barracks in Ballykelly was listed in 2000/2001 and that buildings 85 and 79 at Ebrington Barracks in Londonderry were both listed in 2006/7.

Popular Limavady watering hole Frank Owens of Main Street was also listed in 2000/2001 whilst Our Lady of Lourdes Roman Catholic Church on the Steelstown Road in Londonderry was listed in 2002/2003.
