Arrest warrant is issued

When he was arrested on outstanding money warrants a 32-year-old man bit a police officer on the hand.

Phillip Michael Wilson, Ballyoran Park, Portadown, was convicted of the assault last Wednesday at Craigavon Magistrates Court.

On January 23 last year the defendant was arrested by police for outstanding money warrants.

Wilson, who was intoxicated, became abusive towards police, started to scream and tried to head-butt the police vehicle.

He bit an officer on his hand, breaking the skin. Wilson had previous convictions.

The defendant did not appear in court and was convicted in his absence. An arrest warrant was issued to have him brought to court for sentencing.
