Rachel Hilditch (27), with addresses at Forthill Green, Banbridge, and Carn Valley, Rathfriland, failed to appear at court and was convicted in her absence.

She was found guilty of dangerous driving at Commercial Road and a car park in Banbridge, on June 18 last year.

The court heard that the braking system on the car was defective. The defendant was aware of this but continued to drive.

She was also convicted of driving without due care and attention and not having insurance on October 4 last year between Fort Street and Newry Road, Banbridge.

As well Hilditch faces charges of driving without insurance or a licence on July 24 last year at Rathfriland Street, Banbridge.

Deputy District Judge Laura Ievers said that because of the number of offences she would rather have the defendant in court for sentencing.

A court official formally called Hilditch but there was no appearance and the judge issued an arrest warrant.
