In March sentence had been deferred in their case after a judge asked to see if they had any criminal records in their homeland.

Shoes, coats and jeans were taken from four stores on December 12 last year.

At Coleraine Magistrates Court Alina Cirpacill (26), Anca Cirpaciu (19) and Teresa Nicula (35) admitted theft.

The address for all three was given as Barrack Street, Coalisland, County Tyrone.

They had each been released on their own bail and were banned from entering Coleraine except for court.

A fourth person - Cosmin Micula (26) - had been charged with stealing a £40 coat but had the charge withdrawn.

The trio was due to be sentenced on April 11 but were not present.

One of their legal representatives, barrister Francis Rafferty said they are normally resident in the Republic of Ireland.

He said Cirpacill had not attended an appointment with the Probation Service.

Defence barrister Alan Stewart said Cirpaciu also did not attend Probation but said she had been due to give birth.

He added: “I don’t know if that has interfered with appointments”.

District Judge Des Perry said the suspicion had to be that they had “fled the jurisdiction” and he issued arrest warrants.
