Arrests follow search operation

THREE men were arrested following police searches in the town on Sunday morning.

The men aged 22, 25 and 45 were arrested in connection with serious organised crime.

They were later released on bail pending further enquiries.

On Thursday police carried out separate searches of land in Craigavon.

In a major operation, around a dozen officers combed an area off the Tullygally East and Tandragee roads on Thursday morning.

Armed police officers provided support right up until the end of the search around lunchtime.

It's understood the operation was in connection with serious organised crime.

The location has been the scene of regular serious riots over recent years and is only a few minutes from where Constable Stephen Carroll was shot dead in March last year.

A police spokeswoman said Thursday's search was not connected to the Sunday arrests and no terrorist activity was suspected.
