Arrests made after drugs seized

Police have arrested two people after seizing an estimated £6,000 worth of drugs in the city centre on Sunday, February 19.

Detailing the incident in a post on the PSNI Foyle Facebook page, a police spokesperson said: “Good news to report as more drugs are taken off our city streets.

“Local Policing Team officers in Strand Road stopped and searched a male and female in the city centre area today (Sunday).

“They carried out a search and found an estimated £6,000 of suspected controlled drugs.

“The drugs were seized and both suspects were arrested on the spot for possession of suspected controlled drugs and possession with intent to supply controlled drugs and criminal damage.”

Calling on anyone with information about drug dealing in the area to contact police, the PSNI spokesperson added: “We love a good drugs find - Very happy police versus very sad drug dealers.

“The best place to hit these people is in their pockets by seizing drugs and destroying them. If you have any information on drug dealing in your area please contact us on 101, or via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

“Drug dealers bring nothing to our community. If you deal drugs on the streets of this city - we will come for you!”
