Arson a '˜sectarian hate crime' say police

Police say they are treating an arson attack on a house in Austin Drive, Tandragee, at the weekend as a sectarian hate crime.

The attack took place in the early hours of Saturday morning.

At around 3.15am a petrol bomb was thrown at the front of the house.

Police and the Fire Service attended and the fire was extinguished.

Smoke damage was caused to the kitchen.

A man in his 30s and a woman in her 20s, who were in the property at the time, were not injured.

Inspector Lynsey Barr said, “We are appealing for anyone who witnessed the incident or anyone with any information to contact officers in Armagh quoting reference number 208 30/07/16. Information can also be passed anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
