Art club members put their best work on display at Tourist Information Office

Larne Art Club welcomed the deputy mayor Cllr Michael Lynch, together with members and friends, to a preview evening of the annual art exhibition in the Tourist Information Centre.

Honorary secretary Patricia Rapp introduced special guest artist Rosetta Jallow, from Greenisland, who judged the exhibits and congratulated the members on the very high standard of their artwork.

The Art Cup was won by William Fleck for a study of Plocton in watercolour.

Highly Commended awards were presented to Patti Barklie (Mother and Child in pastel) and June Stirling (a watercolour depicting an Irish sunset).

Patricia thanked the staff at the tourist centre for their assistance and club members for setting up the displays.

A painting donated by last year’s winner of the Art Cup, Rosalind Taylor, will be balloted with proceeds going to her chosen charity – Templepatrick Donkey Shelter.

Phillip Malcolm’s art classes continue each Monday and Wednesday in the Carnegie Building from 2-4pm.

At the recent annual general meeting a presentation was made to John Nelson, who had served as chairman for 14 years. Office bearers elected are chairman Patricia Kay, hon secretary Patricia Rapp and hon treasurer Eileen Polley.
