The Dromara and District Community Art Group presented a cheque for £200 to Jenay Doyle from The Northern Ireland Children’s Hospice - the group’s chosen charity beneficiary.

The new art group has been formed to serve the village and surrounding district and on Tuesday, September 3, it will meet in the Lagan Park Centre, Hillsborough Road, Dromara.

Freelance artists will be on hand to tutor, give advice and encourage members to explore their creative talents using all the different mediums available in the world of art.

With morning and evening sessions available, to enable members to attend at a time which suits their lifestyle, the group will meet on Tuesdays from September to June. Limited sessions will also be held July and August for those wishing to continue over the summer months.

All levels of artistic skills are welcome to join from those who have never considered themselves ‘arty’ to the seasoned painter.

A spokesperson for the group explained, “Exhibitions held in the centre when the group met under the auspices of South Eastern Regional College have proved that there is a wealth of artistic talent in the area.

“The group will continue to hold exhibitions with one planned for December when members will put their work on show and visitors can buy some Christmas presents in the form of an original piece of art work.

“Being given the chance and encouragement to produce something creative, be it oil, watercolour, pencil or which ever medium chosen is therapeutic, stimulating and so gratifying especially in the company of like minded people.”

New members are very welcome to join. For further information contact Bill on 028 9269 9040 or Evelyn at 028 9753 3377.
