Arts Partnership seeking new members

FOLLOWING a fabulous year for Ballymena Arts Partnership which featured the winning of awards and Presidential receptions, the group are now putting out a call to local people for new members to help expand their work.

The Partnership is a consultative body to Ballymena Council, created as a forum open to all people involved in the arts community in the borough.

The purpose of the group is to further the advancement of the arts and support local arts activity and current members work hard in their spare time to start up new initiatives such as the Film/Cinema club at The Braid Arts Centre, The Braid Comedy Club, The Braid Real Music Club and lots of new initiatives and events.

New members are welcome from any area of the arts, however they are currently under represented in the areas of marketing/ promotion, social media, visual arts, arts education and dance.

A spokesperson said: “The Braid Arts Centre is working towards the Arts & Disability Equality Charter and we want to make the group more representative of the local community by particularly appealing to disabled people, disabled artists or people with experience of disabilities

“We are interested in new members who have a range of skills, can deliver events and programmes, can represent the group at events and can reach into the community or represent an art form

“Anyone wishing to apply to be a member of the Partnership should apply in writing stating their experience of arts/ community arts/ disability arts in Ballymena/Northern Ireland or beyond and their reasons for wishing to be a member of the Partnership.

Applicants must be resident in the borough of Ballymena and membership is open to representatives irrespective of gender, religion or political opinion

Applications will be judged by Ballymena Arts Partnership and six invitations issued to successful applicants. Previous members of the Partnership cannot re-apply.

Rosalind Lowry, Arts & Events Development Officer and member of the group, said: “Ballymena Arts Partnership has gone from strength to strength over the past three years and we are very lucky to have a great membership, all committed to bringing the best in arts and new initiatives to the Borough.

“We would welcome six new members to join us to help broaden the work of the group and further advance the arts in Ballymena.”
