Asda Coleraine takes giant strides for NI Hospice

ASDA Coleraine has come up trumps as General Store Manager, Roy Warke, played his part for the retailer’s charity partner, NI Hospice, by participating in a sponsored walk alongside his fellow GSMs and Asda’s regional team to boost the total donation well above the original target of £40,000.

Across all 16 Asda NI stores, Asda colleagues have worked tirelessly on an extensive fundraising campaign for the charitable cause, raising thousands for the NI Hospice in just four weeks. In a final bid to raise vital funds, Asda’s senior team pledged their commitment to the charity and donned their walking boots to take on a 10 mile sponsored walk along the North Down coast, collecting an impressive £4,000 to add to the pot.

After successfully completing the walk, Aubrey Swift, Regional Operations Manager Asda NI, commented, “We’re all delighted that this final effort from the team has helped to raise such a staggering amount. We know that this donation will go a long way towards supporting the valuable care provided by those at the NI Hospice and we thank all those who gave so generously and supported us along the way.”

The campaign stems from Asda’s new initiative, Community Life, a unique outreach programme built on four distinct pillars – working life, healthy life, local life and community life – aimed at making the communities around each store better places to live and work for colleagues and customers. Asda’s sponsored walk kick-starts the focus on healthy life which encourages communities to join together to participate in activities to improve their health and wellbeing.
