Ashley steps out in memory of uncle

A former Ahoghill man is set to embark on a 900 mile charity walk in memory of his uncle who passed away last year.

Ashley Boyd, who now lives in Bristol, will be walking from John O’Groats to Land’s End, via Northern Ireland, in October raising money on behalf of Macmillan Cancer Support.

He will be walking an average of 30 miles per day for 30 days and throughout the walk will be joined by people affected by cancer.

Ashley is aiming to raise £5,000, with £1600 collected so far.

The first 13 days of the walk will take Ashley from John O’Groats down the east coast of Scotland to Inverness and along the Great Glen Way to Fort William.

From Fort William he will walk the West Highland Way towards Glasgow and then to Stranraer, where he will catch a ferry to Larne for the Northern Ireland leg, before flying to Liverpool and making the journey south to Land’s End.
