Assault after accident a ‘hate crime’

An assault which took place following a road traffic collision on Union Street is being treated as a hate crime, police have said.

Details of the incident which happened on April 7 have just been released.

Constable Vivien Healey explained: “A two vehicle rtc, involving a blue Toyota Yaris and black Renault Clio occurred on Union Street around 8.05pm on Tuesday, 7 April. No one was injured during the collision, however, we have received a report of an assault following the collision.”

She went on to say: “We are treating this as a hate crime and working to establish the exact circumstances of the incident.

“We would like to hear from anyone who witnessed the collision or has information in relation to it.

“We can be contacted in Lurgan on 101. Quoting ref: 1189 070415.”
