Assaulted at Edward Street

AN elderly man sustained minor injuries after he was viciously assaulted in the Edward Street area.

Details have just emerged of the incident which happened in the early hours of Sunday, August 28 when the elderly man was walking home after a night out.

He was making his way along Edward Street in the direction of Francis Street when he decided to take a shortcut through entry to the rear of the houses on Edward Street. On walking into the entry he was grabbed from behind by two men who were dressed in dark clothing with hoods up.

The man was pulled to the ground and punched in the head causing minor injuries. One of these men made a threat to this man before both attackers ran off towards the Shankill estate.
