Moffett was bound over in the sum of £500 for two years to keep the peace and be of good behaviour.

The court heard that at 3.15am on March 22 police went to an address in Banbridge after a report from a member of the public about a man in the street who was highly intoxicated.

Moffett became aggressive with police and said ‘I’ll f—king have you’.

The female injured party said that the defendant had been drinking at home prior to going out.

When he came home he damaged the light and stair gate and there was an argument.

Moffett pinned her against a fence while she was holding her daughter and lunged at her with his head. Her cheek was marked.

The defendant had no recollection of the events.

A solicitor representing Moffett said he had paid £250 to the injured party for the damage he had caused.

He explained that the defendant had been watching rugby with friends and had no recollection of what happened from 7pm onwards and when he saw the statement of the injured party he was shocked.

The solicitor added that Moffett was not a regular drinker and in attempting to keep up with his friends he ended up in the state he was in.

He said his client had apologised to his partner and the police.

He has had to move from the home but was engaged with social services to try and re-establish the family unit.
