Assembly election 2016: DUP's Gordon Lyons on course to take second East Antrim seat

Mr Lyons received 851 transfers following the election of party colleague David Hilditch, bringing him to 4323 (just a few hundred votes shy of the 4631 quota) in the second stage.

PUP candidate Jim McCaw was first to be eliminated from the race, taking a total of 463 votes after the second stage.

The UUP’s Roy Beggs is on course to retain his Assembly seat with 3935 votes.

The battle for the remaining three seats looks set to be a real scrap between Stewart Dickson of Alliance (3126), Sinn Fein candidate Oliver McMullan (2633), the DUP’s Alastair Ross (2498 votes), UKIP’s Noel Jordan (2249 votes), and UUP candidate John Stewart (2013 votes).
