“To register a right to vote a registration form needs to be completed. If photographic identity is required an application for an Electoral ID Card is on the same form. There are two types of postal/proxy vote applications. A permanent postal/proxy vote application is available for voters who cannot attend the polling station on the grounds of blindness or other disability. Secondly If a person cannot reasonably be expected to vote in person at a polling station on the 5th May because of holidays or a student at University, a temporary postal vote or a Proxy vote in order to appoint someone to vote in person at the polling may be obtained.
“Anyone requiring registration forms or postal/proxy application forms can contact the Electoral Office on 02890 446620 or alternatively Gregory Campbell MP constituency offices on 02870 327327 (Coleraine) or 02877 766060 (Limavady),” he concluded.
