Robinson was the second DUP candidate to be elected this evening at the count in the Foyle Area.

Maurice Robinson topped the poll and was the first candidate to be elected in the constituency.

Robinson now sets out to serve his fourth term at Stormont.

He thanked his electoral team and the voters for their support commenting that he ‘couldn’t have done it without them’.

Robinson said that the ‘team work’ within his party in East Londonderry was the key to their success in this election.

“I will be lobbying for infrastructure, for me that is so important for inward investment in the East Londonderry area,” he said just after being elected.

“We all want a positive future for East Londonderry.”

Robinson added a special thank you to his wife Ann, describing her as a ‘tower of strength, his son Alan and daughter Caroline.
