ASSEMBLY ELECTION: Sugden elected

The Coleraine woman was the first female to be elected in East Londonderry at Saturday’s count.

“I have been fighting for this for two years.

“We have proven ourselves, we have worked hard on the ground and got to know our constituents,” she said.

This was Claire’s first election, she was co-opted in to the seat following the death of David McClarty in 2014.

Paying to tribute to him, she said: “It means so much to me that peop,le have trusted me with their vote. David trusted me with his seat,” she said.
