Assistants let go

FOUR classroom assistants at controlled schools in the Western Education and Library Board (WELB) were made redundant over the past academic year, according to the Education Minister.

Across Northern Ireland 12 classroom assistants and 14 teachers were made redundant over the year until June 21.

None of the teachers let go were based in WELB.

Education Minister John O’Dowd provided the information in response to a query from UUP MLA David McNarry. In Belfast two classroom assistants and 10 teachers were made redundant. In the South East four teachers were made redundant and in the South six classroom assistants were let go.
