Attacked woman lucky to be alive

A Lisburn woman has survived a knife attack which left her for dead after her former partner allegedly broke into her Florida home.

Gillian McCann-Johnson survived the attack at her Fort Lauderdale flat when neighbours called the emergency services.

The 48-year-old left Northern Ireland four years ago for a new life in Florida.

She now runs a cleaning business. It was reported that Gillian had been stabbed twice in the neck and once in her back. It was also reported that her ex-partner Martin Mahon had also attempted to turn the knife on himself and slit his own throat.

Sources say that the stab wounds were close to the woman’s spine and the couple had split four months ago.

Mahon (57), from Dublin, is charged with attempted murder and it is reported that after forcing his way into Ms McCann-Johnston’s home he attacked her.”
