‘Attacks are jeopardising vital services’

A number of vital services could be put in jeopardy if attacks on the Dunanney Centre continue.

That was the stark warning issued this week by North Belfast MP Nigel Dodds, who has called for those responsible for recent petrol bomb and graffiti attacks at the property to end their campaign of intimidation.

Speaking after the public rally held outside the community facility on Monday, the DUP man said: “The Dunanney Centre houses services for people of all ages: a Citizens Advice Bureau, a Surestart project and a training programme for the unemployed. Whoever is carrying out these attacks is jeopardising vital services which are open to all and which assist people whose needs are greatest. Those responsible are damaging the interests of this community.

“I know that this demonstration of support was appreciated by the management and staff of the centre. The community is united in supporting the valuable work of the Dunanney Centre and will not allow faceless people to damage this centre and the welfare of this community.”
