‘Attempt made to open ATM’ in DeCourcy Centre

Police are continuing to appeal for information following a break-in at the DeCourcy Centre, Carrickfergus last week.

Between the hours of 12am and 12:45am on Friday, August 28, two males concealing their identity gained entry to the centre via a commercial premises.

“Whilst inside the premises, a substantial amount of damage was caused and a large sum of money was taken,” a police spokesperson read.

“Upon entry an attempt was also made to open an ATM bank machine with industrial power tools, causing considerable damage.”

Anyone who was in the area of North Street, North Road, or Lancasterian Street between the hours of 12:00 and 12:45 am and who saw anything suspicious is asked to contact police at Newtownabbey Station via 101.

Police are particularly interested to determine if any vehicles were spotted or if anyone heard power tools being used.
