Attempted murder trio granted bail under conditions

THREE Coleraine men charged with attempted murder have been released on bail.

James Woods of Lisnablagh Road, Martin Mullan of Kingsberry Gardens and Adam Hutchinson of Daneshill Road, are all charged with the attempted murder of Ben Strutt at Lime Market Street in Coleraine, on July 16.

Hutchinson is also charged with aggravated assault on a female on the same date.

At North Antrim Magistrates’ Court on Monday, Hutchinson and Woods appeared via video link.

Hutchinson, who was in custody at Maghaberry Prison, was granted bail under a list of strict conditions.

He must reside at an address in Aghadowey and must not enter Coleraine, except for court appearances.

Two sureties of 2,000 each were sought and Hutchinson is under curfew from 10pm to 8am. He is not permitted to consume alcohol or be in licensed premises and must submit to a breath test when asked.

He must also present himself at the door to police when bail checks are carried out.

Hutchinson was told that he must have no contact with any of the witnesses, the injured party or the co-accused.

A defence barrister asked the court to adjourn the case until August 9, because he said that there had been “some progress with the medical condition of the injured party”

Appearing via video link from Hydebank, Woods was placed under the same bail conditions.

He must reside at an address in Ballymoney and is also banned from the Coleraine area.

On Friday, at Belfast High Court Martin Mullan was granted bail to an address in Limavady. He must comply to the same bail conditions as Hutchinson and Woods.

All three will appear back at North Antrim Magistrates court again on August 9.
