Audrey is first Lady Mayor
DUP Councillor Audrey Wales MBE is Ballymena’s new Mayor and the first female to take the top civic post.
She was elected at Monday night’s annual general meeting of Council when James McClean of the UUP was elected Deputy Mayor.
Both newcomers to the top table in the Council chamber admitted that their respective predecessors, Alderman PJ McAvoy and Cllr Beth Adger would be “a hard act to follow”.
