Average house costs £129k

The average house price in the Antrim and Ballymena area is £129,515 according to Ulster University’s latest Quarterly House Price Index survey.

The University research, which is carried out in partnership with the Northern Ireland Housing Executive, presents a snapshot of the performance of the residential property market in Northern Ireland between July and September 2015.

The report indicates in the Antrim and Ballymena area the overall average house price is indicative of a stronger market during the third quarter.

Overall the average sale price is up by 10.3 per cent compared to the same period in 2014 and by 12.8 per cent relative to the second quarter.

Across the market all sectors show improved performance over the year with the exception of semi-detached houses at £107,418 for which the average price is largely unchanged.

However, terraced/townhouses with an average price of £78,868 are up by 9.9 per cent, detached houses at £180,564 up by 2.9 per cent, semi-detached bungalows at £122,181 up by 8.5 per cent, detached bungalows at £146,602 up by 4.9 per cent and apartments at £68,567 up by 10.2 per cent.
