Award winning chef holds masterclass at NRC

NORTHERN Regional College catering students welcomed award winning chef Chris Bell to the college recently to conduct a masterclass.

Chris was invited to the college by tutors on the professional cookery programme as part of a follow up from an industrial/educational visit that took place in early September when students visited Galgorm Resort and Spa.

Chris who is head chef of the acclaimed River Room at the resort demonstrated a range of dishes and answered student questions about his role on the “The Great British Menu”.

Mary Doran, Curriculum Manager for Hospitality and Catering at NRC, said: “The visit to the Hotel and the fantastic demonstration by Chris gave the students a wonderful opportunity to see at first hand, the Hospitality Industry at work and the quality and dedication required to succeed in a highly competitive sector.

“As a college, we are very appreciative of the time and energy that employers and guest speakers give and we consider the link with industry extremely important for the enrichment of our students’ experience,” she said.
