Awards night at Campuses

ALMOST 190 students from Southern Regional College's, Portadown and Lurgan Campuses, were awarded at the Further Education Awards Ceremony hosted at the Seagoe Hotel.

Mr Brian Doran, Chief Executive of SRC, welcomed students and guests from some of the 134 full time and 432 part time courses available at the award winning College.

Mr Doran commented: “This ceremony marks the culmination of very many hours, indeed years, of hard work and commitment from all of you present.

"The awards you will receive were not easily obtained and you should feel very proud of your achievements."

Students from the following schools received their certificates on the night:

n Creative Studies

n Early Years and Healthcare

n Engineering, Applied Science and Built Environment

n Hairdressing and Beauty

nHospitality and Tourism

n Sports Studies

Student of the Year Awards were presented to Emma Bowring, School of Business, Financial Services and Computing; Nicola Mulholland, School of General Studies (Lurgan Campus) and Leanne Fox, School of General Studies (Portadown Campus).

Personal Achievement Awards were presented to: Timothy Webb, School of Business, Financial Services and Computing; Sonya Rainer, School of General Studies and Andrea Fitzsimmons, School of Creative Studies.

Andrea studied the First Diploma in Art and Design at the Lurgan Campus. She returned to education after having a child.

Tutors said Andrea "pushed herself in every unit of work which was reflected in her final grade of a distinction”.

She has now secured a place on the National Diploma in Art and Design. The Southern Regional College offers a wide range of courses which can be studied on a part-time or full-time basis.
