Baby massage course popular with mums

A Carrickfergus Baptist Church outreach initiative for mothers and babies is proving so popular it is to continue in Autumn.

Following the success of a five-week course in Baby Massage in Spring, the church ran a second series, which has just been completed.

And according to Sandra Silverson, a certified instructor with the International Association of Infant Massage, it was very well received too.

Sandra stated: “The Baby Massage is proving very popular and we will be running more in the Autumn.”

Expressing appreciation to the local health visiting service for promoting the courses, Sandra explained that participants learned how to massage their babies, had a chance to make new friends and learned something about what the church had to offer.

On the final day of the course, those who took part were presented with their certificates by Tracy Ellison, Carrickfergus Baptist Church administrator.

The aim of Baby Massage is to: strengthen baby-parent communication; relax parent and baby; relieve wind, colic and constipation; reduce crying; enhance understanding of baby’s development and encourage deeper sleep for baby
