As part of promotions for the screening of the legendary film - 30 years on from its release - an iconic DeLorean DMC-12 brought Cookstown to a standstill last Friday.

The Lord or Lady of the Lough contest sees a number Mid Ulster businesses nominate a member of staff to take on the challenge.

With one vote per pound raised for Charis, the winner is the one that gathers the most dosh - with the results announced at a gala event at the Greenvale Hotel on Thursday, November 12.

With over £60k raised last year, it’s a hard act to follow and contestants won’t know who has scooped the title of Lord or Lady of the Lough until after they perform their party piece on the night.

This year’s Cookstown nomination is Marie Morgan from Mullan’s Bar, who has organised the October 8 Back to the Future screening at 7.30pm.

Tickets for the one-off event are available from The Ritz Cinema, Mullan’s Bar, and Brown Sugar or you can pay on the door on the night.

As well as the private film screening at the Ritz Cinema, there will also be a Charis Darts Competition with a £300 prize pot in Mullan’s Bar on Saturday, October 10 [entry £7] and a Charis Poker Classic at The Thatch Bar on Sunday, October 11 at 7pm [tickets £10].

Killymoon Golf Club will also host a Charity Golf Classic in aid of Charis on Friday, October 16. Entry costs £100 per team, with a meal included.

As well as the Lord or Lady of the Lough competition, Charis launched the #CrazyHeadChallenge at the weekend.

All you have to do is get your Crazy Head on... this can be with a hat, hairstyle, makeup or any props you like.
