Balance House plays host to a delegation from New Zealand

As part of their visit to Northern Ireland, a delegation from the New Zealand Parliament visited the Ulster New Zealand Trust at the Ballance House, Glenavy on Tuesday 14th April.

The delegation was led by the Speaker of the New Zealand Parliament – Rt. Hon. David Carter and also included the Deputy Speaker – Hon. Chester Burrows, Mr Fletcher Tabuteau, Dr Kenny Graham and Mr Adrian Rurawhe.

On arrival at the Ballance House the delegation was met by the Mayor of the new Lisburn City Council and three gap year students from Dilworth College in Wellington who are currently studying at Dungannon Royal School.

The Speaker planted a tree in the orchard to mark this historic occasion and the delegation were then given a tour of the Ballance House.

The delegation from the New Zealand Parliament will be visiting Britain and Ireland, France, Germany and Poland throughout April to foster stronger parliamentary relations as well as to discuss political and economic developments, and to acknowledge WW1 centenary commemorations.
