Ballinderry man to abseil 200ft Belfast City Hospital for cancer unit that treated his son

Ballinderry man Francie Rocks, well known for his fund raising activities with Cookstown and Magherafelt Lions Club, has undertaken another major task.

The former Lions president hopes his daring venture will raise much useful funds for the Cancer Centre at Belfast City Hospital.

On the weekend of April 11-12, Francie will take part in a campaign described “Take on the Tower”.

This involves abseiling almost two hundred feet (yes 200) down the face of the Belfast City Hospital.

In his own words Francie has recently spent a considerable amount of time in and around the City Hospital Cancer Unit while his son was undergoing treatment.

The staff in this area, he said, from the medics, nursing, social workers, radiographers, caterers, porters and cleaners carry out their duties in the most caring, friendly and compassionate way.

It is therefore with these observations in mind that he has decided to make a contribution in support the wonderful work these people carry out.

Hence the abseil challenge called “Take on the Tower”.

Prior to attempting this challenge Francie would be delighted with any form of sponsorship no matter how small.

Cancer does not discriminate as it affects children, teenagers, the middle aged and the more mature.

All the funds raised will go directly to support this unit and any donations will be much appreciated. Donations can be made by visiting the Just Giving website at the following address www.justgiving.com/FrancieRocks1

In conclusion Francie says that donating through Just Giving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with Just Giving and once a donation has been made they send the money directly to the charity.
