Ballinlea roadwork welcomed

Roads Service staff are currently cutting new drainage channels on the road from the Church going towards the Dry Arch and resurfacing will start soon, weather permitting.

Councillor Baird said “I have been campaigning for resurfacing of the B147 since I was elected to Moyle District Council in Spring 2011. and am pleased that action is now being taken.

“I would especially thank Robin Swann MLA for his hard work at Stormont making sure that action has been taken on this road.

“The road has been dug up numerous times by the Water Services Contractor when a new water main was being laid and I know that motorists have had to suffer a bumpy drive when the road surface became corrugated with numerous potholes.”

The B147 is a key route for local people, visitors and tourists alike in that it provides a link between the A2 Causeway Coastal Route, the B17 Ballycastle to Bushmills road and to Armoy village.

Councillor Baird went on to say “The B147 is an important route for local people travelling from the Coast to Belfast and beyond – tourists use it en route from the airports to the North Coast, and it is vitally important that it is well maintained and safe.

“I want to thank Roads Minister Danny Kennedy and his staff for having this scheme prioritised.”
