Ballintoy man on sex charges further remanded

A file containing a 'substantial amount of information' has been allocated to a senior prosecutor in the case of a Ballintoy man charged with a series of sex offences including alleged incidents against children.

Samuel Smylie (58),of Larrybane Park, faces 18 charges relating to three individuals - two males and a female - between 2006 and June 7 this year.

Smylie appeared at Coleraine Magistrates Court via video link from prison.

District Judge Liam McNally noted the accused has been remanded in custody since June and said: “That’s a long time”. The case has been adjourned to December 12.
