Ballyarnett Country Park meetings

DERRY City Council, in partnership with the Outer North Neighbourhood Partnership, will host two public information meetings in the coming weeks to progress the ongoing consultation exercise on the potential use and development of Ballyarnett Country Park.

This follows on from Stage 1 of the process in which a range of interested stakeholders were identified, representing a wide variety of groups and organisations who have expressed an interest in the future of the Park.

Derry City Council City Engineer, John Kelpie, whose Parks Development team are leading the consultation, said that they are striving to make the process as transparent and inclusive as possible.

"These public meetings will offer a wider audience an opportunity to engage in the consultation. It will assist us in establishing the current community and resident use of the facility and what their aspirations are for the future of the Park."

"Draft Proposals developed by Groundwork NI, based on initial stakeholder feedback, will be on display to gauge opinion and support for the ideas received to date. Feedback gleaned from the information sessions will form the basis of a draft report and masterplan which we hope to present to November's Environmental Services committee. Therefore we would encourage as many people as possible to attend these information meetings for their valued contribution," he said.

The meetings will take place at the offices of the Outer North Neighbourhood Partnership, Unit C3, Northside Village Centre on Saturday 11th September 2010 from 10am – 3pm and on Wednesday 15th September 2010 from 3pm – 9pm
