Ballybriest Pipe Band are ‘Champion of champions’

Ballybriest Pipe Band have yet again been crowned Northern Ireland Champion of Champions at the Northwest pipe band championships held at Ramore head, Portrush.

The band’s third successive title, which is awarded by the Northern Ireland branch of the Royal Scottish Pipe Band Association, cumulated a great season of success for the band.

Having previously won all seven of the NI branch championships, namely the bough of Ards championships, City of Lisburn championships, Co Fermanagh championships, Craigavon and district championships, Mid Ulster championships, The Ulster championships and the North West championships.

Ballybriest also attended four major championships hosted by the Royal Scottish Pipe band Association and achieved top six placing’s at all four, namely fourth at the the British championships, third at the United Kingdom championships, sixth at the Scottish championships and finally fifth at the World championships held in Glasgow.

At each of the majors Ballybriest were the best placed Band from this side of the Irish Sea.

The Drum Corps also picked up the Champion of Champions Drum Corps after winning six of the NI championships. And for the second year in a row Ballybriest Drum Corps also won the All-Ireland drumming prize .

It was also a successful season for the Bass and Tenor section of the band which won six of the seven available prizes during the season.

The band would like to thank everyone who helped in their journey of success this season, and also their many loyal supporters who cheered them on and gave messages of encouragement and support.
