Ballycarry road'˜needs to be named'

A local councillor is calling for action over a road with no name.

Ulster Unionist councillor Mark McKinty, has called on Mid and East Antrim Borough Council to formally name the Black Hayshed Road, in Ballycarry, which has never had a sign erected.

Over the years, local people have always known the small road, which connects Bentra Road to Bridgend Road, as Black Hayshed Road.

But in recent weeks, the old shed has been demolished resulting in the loss of what has become a local landmark.

Now Cllr. McKinty, who has the backing of the local community group, says the local identity should be preserved through a street sign for the route.
